I am what some would call born into the church, as my mother was a minister and was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit in the same night. Even though I grew up in church and participated in many roles from usher to a small group leader, I have had my share of life's difficulties and areas that I have struggled with like everyone else, however, if it had not been for the love of God and his grace and mercy I would most likely be dead today. The scripture that comes to mind is Psalm 124: 1, 7-8: “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side...Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
Growing up in church or even going to church does not mean we are on our way to glory; it is having a heart, mind, and soul that loves the Lord completely and wants to give him our all. As a worship minister and dance minister, I have learned that worship is not only singing songs to the Lord but a lifestyle to be lived and my goal is to serve the Lord with my whole heart, and to encourage those I meet in life to do the same. Salvation is free to us but it cost God and Christ Jesus everything. Giving our all means so much to our Lord that Jesus told us to love the Lord with all your heart, mind, and soul which is the first and greatest commandment and your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22: 37). Here at Hopes Way, I am learning and now becoming who God has purposed me to be in His kingdom, for I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13).
